About 'Island' (Previously called The Sea Change)

1. We will shoot key scenes in one choreographed, fluid take.
2. By contrast, Nikki’s Fear will be portrayed before a static camera.
3. There will be no more than four set-ups per scene, to benefit actors and assuage schedule-anxiety.
4. We will not neglect the humour in this film.
5. Island as character: 2nd unit footage of landscape and its inhabitants is vital to storytelling and options in the edit.
6. The production design suggests the light and playful, whilst camera work and dramatic action suggest the dark, poetic ‘other’.
7. Flashbacks will be more stylized: enhanced in grade and with a faster edit.
8. Music as thread: a contemporary soundtrack primarily represents Nikki’s emotional state, varying from electronic to acoustic/percussive sounds.
9. Sound design will be very naturalistic with the occasional, unexpected and exaggerated blast, bleep, tick, and whirr.
10. Magic can happen anywhere.
